Terms & Conditions

For puppy classes, 1-2-1 training and behaviour sessions.

These terms are for clients of Positive Paws Dog Training, covering dog training classes, 1-2-1 training and behaviour advice sessions. They exist in the interest of safety, responsibility and the welfare of everyone involved.

I reserve the right to change these terms at any time, and any changes take immediate effect. It is your responsibility to read them and keep up to date with the latest version.

Payments and cancellations

Payment in full is taken at the time of booking. Refunds are not available apart from in exceptional circumstances.

Classes

If you are unable to attend a class it will still run in your absence, as I may not be able to re-allocate your place to another paying client. For this reason, once payment has been made, no credit or refund is offered for classes you do not attend.

1-2-1 sessions and behaviour consultations

Cancellations require at least 48 hours' notice, and no refunds are given
The session may be re-booked for a future date at my discretion, as long as the 48 hour cancellation window has been adhered to
Cancellations with less than 48 hours' notice require full payment, even if the session cannot be re-booked

In the unlikely event that I cancel a class or private session, a catch up session will be arranged. Refunds will not be given.

Health

All dogs must be up to date with their vaccinations for distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo virus and parvo influenza. I may ask you for proof that your dog's vaccinations are current
Dogs should also be up to date with anti-flea and anti-wormer treatments
If your dog is ill, please do not bring them to a class or private session, and let me know as soon as possible. This includes bitches in season

Puppies attending class before their vaccination course is complete are covered separately by the Puppy Class Early Attendance Policy.

Training methods

Positive Paws Dog Training uses positive, reward based methods. I do not allow dogs to be handled forcefully during training, and any owner using forceful or negative handling methods will be asked to leave immediately and will not be offered a refund.

All dogs must have a flat collar or harness and a short lead. No extending leads
Slip leads, choke chains, check chains, prong collars or other similarly punishing equipment will not be accepted
All dogs must be kept on leads in and around the training venue unless I instruct otherwise
Any behavioural problems need to be raised before booking, so that we can consider the most appropriate form of training for your dog
No aggressive dogs are allowed at training classes, and any dog I deem to be aggressive will be asked to leave

Insurance and liability

Pet insurance is highly recommended. Owners are responsible for all vet bills, no matter how they are incurred
I accept no responsibility for loss of, or injury to, your dog whilst training with me
All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times
I accept no responsibility for any damage to, theft of, or theft from your vehicle. Please do not leave valuables in your car, and never leave dogs unattended in a vehicle

Photography

During training I may take photographs or videos of dogs learning, and family members may be captured in these photos. These are used in both educational and promotional materials, including on social media and on this website. By agreeing to these terms you give consent for Positive Paws Dog Training to use them in that way.

If you would prefer me not to use photos or videos taken, please let me know. I will not use photos with children in unless agreed with their parents.

Confidentiality

All client details are kept in confidence and will not be passed on to a third party for promotional use. Email addresses are used to keep you informed about services and activities, as well as your current bookings and notes. If you would no longer like to receive emails from Positive Paws Dog Training, please let me know.
